National Geographic magazine includes the Costa Brava in its list of the world's twenty best tourist destinations for 2012

National Geographic, the prestigious travel magazine, has published its list of the world's twenty best tourist destinations for 2012, one of which is the Costa Brava.

The Costa Brava features on the list alongside destinations such as Dresden, in Germany, Istria, in Croatia, Koh Lipe, in Thailand, the north of Colombia, the Virunga Volcanoes, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Oman and Sri Lanka, among others.

The inclusion of the Costa Brava on this list is a result of the positive evaluation made by the National Geographic Editorial Committee following a visit made to the destination by the US journalist Marilyn Terrell, head of research. Marilyn Terrell was one of the travel influencers who was invited by the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona to form part of a group of tourism opinion leaders, journalists and bloggers in a promotional initiative entitled Costa Brava international blogtrip, #InCostabrava.

The print version of the feature published on the Costa Brava contains high quality images and more detailed texts. The digital version includes a brief description of several beauty spots and places of interest in the area, along with a series of photographs: a scenic view of Tossa de Mar, the Celler de Can Roca restaurant, the mediaeval town of Pals, the Dalí Theatre - Museum in Figueres, Girona's old quarter and a cove in the town of Sant Feliu de Guíxols.
